SOUTHERN PINES, NC—Andrew Pudewa, internationally known education speaker, will be joining the 2020 Classical Conversations Capstone Cruise May 4-8 on board the Carnival cruise ship Liberty.
Pudewa will be speaking to a packed house as cruise participation continues to increase dramatically. Bookings for the cruise are already 40 percent ahead of last year, and the number of seniors for the 2020 commencement has already surpassed last year’s total.
“We are having an outstanding response to the cruise already this year,” said Jill True, cruise coordinator. “We already have 642 people booked for the cruise, which isn’t for another six months!”
Last spring about 750 people cruised to the Bahamas, and 97 seniors graduated in the 2019 Classical Conversations Commencement. Ninety-eight seniors are already booked for the 2020 commencement, and organizers have decided to cap the number of graduates for this year at 120.
The fifth-annual cruise will be four nights (five-days) on board the Carnival Liberty cruise ship. The Liberty departs at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 4, from Port Canaveral, Florida, destined for ports in the Bahamas—Nassau and Carnival’s private island, Half Moon Cay—and will return at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 8.
Pudewa will be teaching writing workshops and giving parent talks during the cruise. He is the founder and principal speaker of the Institute for Excellence in Writing and a father of seven. Traveling and speaking around the world, he addresses issues related to teaching, writing, thinking, spelling, and music with clarity, insight, practical experience, and humor.
“Andrew is a wonderful speaker and a great friend to Classical Conversations,” said Classical Conversations’ CEO Robert Bortins. “I am very excited to have him join us on the cruise, and I know that many CC families will look forward to hearing him speak.”
The CC Cruise Team has many new activities planned for the cruise, in addition to the existing cruise activities provided by Carnival. There will be a full slate of CC children’s activities, in addition to workshops, book discussions and activities for adults. Tuesday is commencement, Wednesday is the National Memory Master championship and Thursday is the National Number Knockout championship.
